Dome Pondering Movie Review: Trainwreck (2015)

What is it about?

After believing that monogamy  was never possible, a career-driven women who willingly drives her commitment-phobia falls deals with her fears when she meets a good guy.

Who is in it?

Amy Schumer - Amy

Bill Hader - Aaron

Favorite Scene:

Aaron has lunch with one of his client, LeBron James, who cares about him but at the same time is super frugal about spending and picking up the lunch check.

Favorite Quote:

LeBron James: When are you gonna come to Cleveland?
Aaron: I'll... I'll come when I have the time. I just don't have the time right now. I'll come when I have the time. I've been really busy.
LeBron James: You visit me in Miami all the time.
Aaron: Yeah, but that's Miami.
LeBron James: What's the difference between Miami and Cleveland? It's the same.
Aaron: You're right. It's the same.
LeBron James: Exactly.

Review:

Wow. Well, to quote the obvious line I've seen from so many reviews on this film, "Trainwreck, is exactly that...a trainwreck!" And to be honest, that might not be descriptive enough. This film was one of the worst films I've seen in a long, long time. It really was.

I decided to watch the film with my wife, and what I ended up seeing (and really forcing myself through) was poignantly put by her when she said, "it tried way too hard, in moment when you needed it, it didn't try at all".

Trainwreck was the typical Judd Apatow directed film with raunchy humor to support a love story of some sorts. Trainwreck followed the same formula, except the writing (written by Amy Schumer) was so poor, the characters were awful and the storytelling left you confused and at times checking out.

At the root of the film, it should be a romantic story and quite frankly, you don't even care midway through the film if Amy and Aaron ever get together. Especially, since the film hits a hard wall around the 45 minute mark that makes the final hour and fifteen minutes feel like a week. The film just drags, drags, drags, with pointless and unfunny joke after the other during other pointless and ridiculous scenes.

Oddly enough, the acting wasn't terrible. Amy Schumer was actually good, but for some reason, LeBron James, who was good as well, was the memorable performance from the film.

Unfortunately, for a film with such a large budget and such potential because of the cameos and appearances of celebs and athletes, this film falls flat. And falls so hard. The loud thud can be heard among the silence and mundane engagement as you suffer through this film. Trainwreck is again, one of the worst films I've seen in the last year. Watch at your own risk!

3 Up
1. Tammie Jo Shults - Kudos to the captain of the Southwest aircraft that blew an engine. Shults was able to land the plane safely with busted engine, thus minimizing the fatality of the fiasco to just the one person who unfortunately was sucked out of a window. So crazy. All of it, so incredible.
1a. Southwest In-Flight Crew - More kudos to TJS's staff who not only pulled a woman being sucked out of a plane back into the aircraft, but managed to keep everyone onboard safe and poised during the emergency.
2. James Shaw Jr. - There were even more heroes this week as James Shaw Jr. wrestled a rifle away from a madman who rushed a Waffle House in Tennessee and opened up fire. Took lots of guts, but Shaw saved countless lives.
3. LeBron James - I don't understand how any sports fan can say anything about LeBron James. The dude once again is carrying a rather dubious contending roster on his back during these playoffs.

3 Down
1. Waffle House - More mass shootings...Ugh. I r…

The Pondering 10 - Favorite MLB Uniforms

Unlike most sports, baseball uniforms carry a lot of tradition and history. It's rare that you see baseball teams deviate away from the history of a club, and if they do, it's usually an ownership change. For the most part, in baseball, the uniforms are sacred. Because of that, Major League Baseball has many teams with uniforms that are very, very significant, and also, very stylish. As we did for the NFL (Pondering 10 - Favorite NFL Uniforms), the following Pondering 10 will take a look at my favorite MLB uniforms.

2013 Bucket List - #29 Attend Wrestlemania

It only took me twenty eight years and twenty-nine events, but I finally (finally!!) made it to Wrestlemania. I've attended so many wrestling events in my lifetime, from small local shows to pay-per-view events, from small local promotions, to the global companies, but never had I gone to the big one - Wrestlemania.
Upon hearing the huge event was returning to the metropolitan area at Met Life stadium, I knew I had to attend. As soon as tickets went on pre-sale, I purchased them...way back in November. I knew, if not now, then when? If not this year, then probably never. Some might not understand the importance of it, but to crazy wrestling addicts like myself, this is the show. And while it wasn't on the 2013 Bucket List, this was on my absolute lifetime list, and this past Sunday, I placed a big fat check mark next to it. The following is a little review of my Wrestlemania 29 experience, live!

The Pondering 10 - All-Time Favorite Championship Belts

With the WWE finally moving on from the ridiculousness that was the appearance of the WWE championship (Really, they kept a spinning title for eight years), and of course the unveiling the look of the title, it got the wheels turning on the best looks for championship belts. From pro wrestling, boxing (although, don't expect to see any on this list as they are usually ugly), and mixed martial arts, there are plenty of different models, types, and appearances that come with them. The following Pondering 10 list is my favorite all-time championship belts.
