Who is in it?

Brie Larson - Grace

Favorite Scene:

After the issue facing Jayden forces her to deal with her own problems, Grace takes off for Jayden Dad's house in hopes of saving her, all while restraining from taking out her own issues in the situation.

Favorite Quote:

Sammy: Can we play Big and Small?
Grace: Is that a real game, or is that a game you just made up?
Sammy: It's a real game that I just made up.

Review:

In selecting this film, I did what I'm sure many people have done on a weeknight, flipped through some films on Netflix and came across this hidden gem of a film. Of course, I cross referenced it with IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, etc...and decided to give it a go. Boy, am I glad I did! I'm not sure what it is with me and indie films, possibly the raw emotion and simplicity, or just the development of the characters, but Short Term 12 was really, really, good.

What hooked me is exactly what I said above, the depth of the characters and the life issue it brings to a front when it comes to "underprivileged" kids (love how the movie attacks this term), foster children, and many other issues we vilify children with. In Short Term 12, there really aren't any heroes or any coming of age stories, just a lot people dealing with real life issues, and how they are all connected to a deeper meaning of the baggage we carry.

Brie Larson was absolutely fantastic in her role as Grace, and it's a character you find yourself rooting for because of her connection with the kids, as well as the inner struggles she carries from her relationship with her dad.

Short Term 12 is a fantastic film that is absolutely worth the watch, especially considering the 90 minute running time.

Grade: 4/5

3 Up
1. Tammie Jo Shults - Kudos to the captain of the Southwest aircraft that blew an engine. Shults was able to land the plane safely with busted engine, thus minimizing the fatality of the fiasco to just the one person who unfortunately was sucked out of a window. So crazy. All of it, so incredible.
1a. Southwest In-Flight Crew - More kudos to TJS's staff who not only pulled a woman being sucked out of a plane back into the aircraft, but managed to keep everyone onboard safe and poised during the emergency.
2. James Shaw Jr. - There were even more heroes this week as James Shaw Jr. wrestled a rifle away from a madman who rushed a Waffle House in Tennessee and opened up fire. Took lots of guts, but Shaw saved countless lives.
3. LeBron James - I don't understand how any sports fan can say anything about LeBron James. The dude once again is carrying a rather dubious contending roster on his back during these playoffs.

3 Down
1. Waffle House - More mass shootings...Ugh. I r…

The Pondering 10 - Favorite MLB Uniforms

Unlike most sports, baseball uniforms carry a lot of tradition and history. It's rare that you see baseball teams deviate away from the history of a club, and if they do, it's usually an ownership change. For the most part, in baseball, the uniforms are sacred. Because of that, Major League Baseball has many teams with uniforms that are very, very significant, and also, very stylish. As we did for the NFL (Pondering 10 - Favorite NFL Uniforms), the following Pondering 10 will take a look at my favorite MLB uniforms.

2013 Bucket List - #29 Attend Wrestlemania

It only took me twenty eight years and twenty-nine events, but I finally (finally!!) made it to Wrestlemania. I've attended so many wrestling events in my lifetime, from small local shows to pay-per-view events, from small local promotions, to the global companies, but never had I gone to the big one - Wrestlemania.
Upon hearing the huge event was returning to the metropolitan area at Met Life stadium, I knew I had to attend. As soon as tickets went on pre-sale, I purchased them...way back in November. I knew, if not now, then when? If not this year, then probably never. Some might not understand the importance of it, but to crazy wrestling addicts like myself, this is the show. And while it wasn't on the 2013 Bucket List, this was on my absolute lifetime list, and this past Sunday, I placed a big fat check mark next to it. The following is a little review of my Wrestlemania 29 experience, live!

The Pondering 10 - All-Time Favorite Championship Belts

With the WWE finally moving on from the ridiculousness that was the appearance of the WWE championship (Really, they kept a spinning title for eight years), and of course the unveiling the look of the title, it got the wheels turning on the best looks for championship belts. From pro wrestling, boxing (although, don't expect to see any on this list as they are usually ugly), and mixed martial arts, there are plenty of different models, types, and appearances that come with them. The following Pondering 10 list is my favorite all-time championship belts.
