Sunday Sundown Rundown - 1/25/14

3 Up

1. State of the Union - I touched base on it earlier this week (2015 State of the Union Reaction), the President's address was a very good speech. Sure, there are topics we all may not agree on, but his call for "better politics" was dead on.

2. Klay Thompson - A new record of 37 points in one quarter en route to a 52 point night is an amazing feat for one of the top two shooters in the NBA. Unfortunately, for fans of teams not named the Golden State Warriors, his teammate, Steph Curry, is the other.

3. SNL Patriots Spoof - I don't get around to watching SNL the way I used to when I was a teenager, but their spoof on the Patriots recent press conference and all that is #DeflateGate was fantastic.

3 Down

1. Father Mass Killing - Not sure how one could kill their family, but apparently a Queen's man took the life of his family earlier this week. What is going on in the world?!

2. Home Depot Shooting - Yup, another mass shooting. Another person taking their life issues out on others before taking their own life. Something is amiss in our society when these stories are prevelant.

3. Edgewater Apartments Fire - The fire in Edgewater, NJ that destroyed an entire housing complex, including the apartment of Yankees radio announcer, John Sterling, is awful. Especially with news of an impending blizzard set to be the worst in the area's history.

1 Waste of time

1. Patriots Press Conference - Talk about a boring snooze fest. Whoever thinks giving Coach Belichik a live microphone equates to interest and intrigue, even with controversy in the mix, is sadly mistaken.

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 4/22/18

3 Up
1. Tammie Jo Shults - Kudos to the captain of the Southwest aircraft that blew an engine. Shults was able to land the plane safely with busted engine, thus minimizing the fatality of the fiasco to just the one person who unfortunately was sucked out of a window. So crazy. All of it, so incredible.
1a. Southwest In-Flight Crew - More kudos to TJS's staff who not only pulled a woman being sucked out of a plane back into the aircraft, but managed to keep everyone onboard safe and poised during the emergency.
2. James Shaw Jr. - There were even more heroes this week as James Shaw Jr. wrestled a rifle away from a madman who rushed a Waffle House in Tennessee and opened up fire. Took lots of guts, but Shaw saved countless lives.
3. LeBron James - I don't understand how any sports fan can say anything about LeBron James. The dude once again is carrying a rather dubious contending roster on his back during these playoffs.

3 Up
1. Bartolo Colon - Mannnnnnnn, this dude at 44 years old and at who knows how many pounds overweight, almost threw a perfect game against the defending World Series Champions on National television. Bartolo, don't you ever change.
2. Beyonce - I probably could just leave this "UP" as just "Beyonce", and really, most wouldn't even bat an eye at it. Regardless, she earned it this week, slaying as always. Beyonce killed it at Coachella with some awesome performances, reuniting with Destiny's Child, and of course, making history as the first black woman to headline the festival.
3. New York Mets - Even this Yankees fan has to give it up to the Mets and their hot start. They are playing some fun baseball, and well, it's backed by those big arms they need to rely on. Kudos to the Amazin's!

1. Philadelphia Starbucks - For those who don't understand "white privilege", here is an example of the opposite - two black men waiting…

2013 Bucket List - #29 Attend Wrestlemania

It only took me twenty eight years and twenty-nine events, but I finally (finally!!) made it to Wrestlemania. I've attended so many wrestling events in my lifetime, from small local shows to pay-per-view events, from small local promotions, to the global companies, but never had I gone to the big one - Wrestlemania.
Upon hearing the huge event was returning to the metropolitan area at Met Life stadium, I knew I had to attend. As soon as tickets went on pre-sale, I purchased them...way back in November. I knew, if not now, then when? If not this year, then probably never. Some might not understand the importance of it, but to crazy wrestling addicts like myself, this is the show. And while it wasn't on the 2013 Bucket List, this was on my absolute lifetime list, and this past Sunday, I placed a big fat check mark next to it. The following is a little review of my Wrestlemania 29 experience, live!

The Pondering 10 - Favorite MLB Uniforms

Unlike most sports, baseball uniforms carry a lot of tradition and history. It's rare that you see baseball teams deviate away from the history of a club, and if they do, it's usually an ownership change. For the most part, in baseball, the uniforms are sacred. Because of that, Major League Baseball has many teams with uniforms that are very, very significant, and also, very stylish. As we did for the NFL (Pondering 10 - Favorite NFL Uniforms), the following Pondering 10 will take a look at my favorite MLB uniforms.
