Dome Pondering Movie Review: Kick-Ass 2 (2013)

What is it about?

Kick-Ass returns with a group of inspired citizens who also become "super heroes" to fight the evolved "Red Mist" who vows revenge against everyone Kick-Ass knows.

Who is in it?

Aaron Taylor-Johnson - Dave Lizewski/Kick-Ass

Chloe Grace Moretz - Mindy Macready/Hit-Girl

Favorite Scene:

After being called to audition for the team, Mindy mirrors what she would do if she fought five others. While in her mind she was Hit Girl, in reality she put together an incredibly acrobatic performance which caused immediate friction between her and the "popular girls".

Favorite Quote:

Mindy: "You don't have to be a bad-ass to be a superhero, Dave. You just have to be brave."

Review:

I really enjoyed the original Kick-Ass movie. There is just something about the appeal of a real-life super-hero with real-life consequences that is very intriguing. Dave Lizewski doesn't have Batman's billions or Superman's immeasurable strength. Kick-Ass 2 does a tremendous job of displaying the difficulties of Mindy and Dave trying to fit in as normal people in the real world, while struggling to fit in who they really are - super heroes.

The sequel picks up where the original left and really had a built-and-ready-to-go plot of Red Mist's revenge of his father. While KA2 goes that route, there were a few things that made the movie feel a bit "cheap." Kick-Ass 2 turned up the gore, blood, and violence to the point of mirroring a Quentin Tarantino film.

While not terrible in any way, there is just a certain quality that was lost from the original with the addition of gimmicks and aspects such as violence, gore, nudity, and language rather than the dynamic story told in the original.

However, despite the very clear difference in vision for the film (very much due to different directors), Kick-Ass 2 is still very much enjoyable. And of course, still a very good watch.

WWE Wrestlemania XL Review: "I absolutely loved this Wrestlemania"

It's easy to get caught up and become a prisoner of the moment. Especially in today's world where the latest moment is ostracized, super-analyzed, and hyperbolized - it's very much the clickbait, social media, microwave society we live in.  Yet, even after acknowledging that (as well as my Tribal Chief, of course), I still come to this feeling that Wrestlemania XL is one of the best Wrestlemania's, ever.  Yes, ever!  I don't need Triple H's metrics and benchmarks to influence me. No, no, no! In terms of hype, storylines, payoffs, match quality, and just overall fun - this entire weekend was amazing.  I'm slightly skewed in my preference as well. This was my son's first Wrestlemania as a pro wrestling fan. Having him at my side cheering on his favorites, getting caught up in the drama, and even crying at the end of the night because his Tribal Chief lost to "that no good Cody" added to the overall appreciation of the event.  So yeah, I have some

DP Review of the Alternate Knicks Orange Jersey

One of the good aspects about having a blog and being truthful and honest about it, is the hindsight thought process it provides. DP devotees already know how much I love my New York Knicks, and how excited I was about their new jerseys last year. It was a new look that was desperately needed ( DP Review On Knicks New Uniforms ).  In reviewing those jerseys last year, I had the following comments in regards to then-rumors regarding the addition of an alternative orange jersey for the Knicks and overall NBA changes to the Christmas Day special jerseys:  "As long as we do not add an "alternative jersey" (I read rumors of an orange one - woof!) (and the league-wide Spanish jerseys are fine). And please, please - PLEASE - let's finally do away with the awful green jerseys we feel the need to wear on Christmas and St. Patrick's day! Pretty please!"

Imagine, if we can see the dents and scratches, the smashes and chaos,  on the daily armor, each of us put on. Just imagine.
