TNA Lockdown 2013 - Predictable, But Very Intriguing

I saw it coming for a while now. Actually, we all saw it coming. Bully Ray was the President of Ace's and Eights. Even if you didn't know, you had to be at the very least suspicious of Ray never being attacked by the group and suddenly becoming the honorable babyface we all know he isn't made to play. Bully Ray makes for a decent babyface, but there is a reason he goes by Bully Ray. Because he's a damn good heel.

But you know what, who cares if we saw it coming? Predictable? Sure, but so what? After all, we all had John Cena/The Rock pegged for a rematch coming up. And let's be honest, the entire card for Wrestlemania is rather predictable right now.

But again, so what?

Those who are criticizing the end of Lockdown this past Sunday are those who are the type of fans where nothing moves them because they are too wrapped up in their own cynicism to enjoy anything.

While I felt the match left a lot to be desired, the story here was the heel turn and the eventual unveiling of Ray behind the whole shebang. Whether you've been intrigued by the Ace's and Eights storyline (I've had mixed emotions about it), the payoff was definitely a way to draw everyone in again to see where this goes. The promo cut by Bully Ray (2012 DP Pro Wrestler of the year) was the stuff old-school wrestling was made of. You simply lost yourself in the moment as he ripped into Hogan and Brooke which really made for great TV, and now, the classic pending revenge storyline that is very intriguing.

"Hulk, I used you!...Brooke, I screwed you!...and most of all, I fooled all of you!"

Classic stuff. Especially for someone that's always enjoyed others get the best of Hulk Hogan since the eighties. I know, I'm a rare breed.

[Blog Sidenote: And much props to Bully Ray who continues to deliver the best work in the business.]

What placed the cherry on top of this situation was the awesome sight of fans throwing trash in the ring. Takes me back to the old days of the NWO. Lockdown has the chance to be that "Bash at the Beach" moment for TNA. Bully Ray really is that good to pull off the "super villain-heel", and everything is in place for some great television through the summer.

Whether you had this pegged or not, you have to admit, this has turned into a very intriguing deal for TNA. What will the fallout of the Lockdown be? How will Bully Ray explain his role in Ace's and Eights (and some potential storyline holes)? And how will Hogan get revenge when he can barely walk?

Yes, it was predictable, but it was very, very interesting, and is leading to some exciting and - hey, how about this? - unpredictable things to come.

WWE Wrestlemania XL Review: "I absolutely loved this Wrestlemania"

It's easy to get caught up and become a prisoner of the moment. Especially in today's world where the latest moment is ostracized, super-analyzed, and hyperbolized - it's very much the clickbait, social media, microwave society we live in.  Yet, even after acknowledging that (as well as my Tribal Chief, of course), I still come to this feeling that Wrestlemania XL is one of the best Wrestlemania's, ever.  Yes, ever!  I don't need Triple H's metrics and benchmarks to influence me. No, no, no! In terms of hype, storylines, payoffs, match quality, and just overall fun - this entire weekend was amazing.  I'm slightly skewed in my preference as well. This was my son's first Wrestlemania as a pro wrestling fan. Having him at my side cheering on his favorites, getting caught up in the drama, and even crying at the end of the night because his Tribal Chief lost to "that no good Cody" added to the overall appreciation of the event.  So yeah, I have some

NXT Stand and Deliver 2024 Review: 'For super casual NXT fans like me - no complaints here'

It's become officially a tradition that NXT Stand and Deliver makes Wrestlemania weekend feel like the ultimate wrestling weekend - as if it isn't already. There is just something about a major show being held midday on a Saturday, among the hype for the already dual night of Wrestlemania - that just emanates and screams - wrestling fans, don't go anywhere all weekend.   Nonetheless, NXT Stand and Deliver 2024 for this super causal NXT viewer was entertaining. I was well aware (and followed) the story of Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes (more on that in a bit) more so than the other happenings, but that didn't matter. The show offered many reasons to check out Shawn Michaels' project on Tuesday nights.  With that said, here are some quick thoughts on NXT Stand and Deliver 2024:  - Baron Corbin is amazing on the NXT brand. For many reasons, he just never clicked for me on the major brands - and that very likely might not even be his fault. I didn't think Axiom an
