2011 Bucket List - #18 Compose a Song

Can I write a song? Hmm, maybe. Can I produce a song. Nope. Can I even sing? Absolutely not. Yet, I enjoy music, I enjoy the message it sends, and it’s ability to make you feel a special way, and take you back to a distinct time. With that in place, #18 on the 2011 Bucket List called for your truly to compose a song. Any song. And with very little vocal ability and about ten minutes to write a song about anything, I did just that.
Luckily for me, the song was recorded, produced, engineered, and is currently being edited by one of my good friends who happens to be a music engineer that does these type of things for a living. At this point I’m convinced, if the final product can sound somewhat easy on the ears, then not only is he a genius, but I’m convinced the music industry is that much more about image, politics, relationships, and politics than actual talent. But that rant and argument is for another day.

Now I’m sure there are some of you who would like to hear the actual song, of course, out of sheer anticipation of much humor. The song is one that is filled with foolish lines and nonsense about a typical day of yours truly. The mini hook, “I break arms” is one that in some odd way engrained itself into me, my friend, and my tag-team partner, who happened to also drop a line on the track – literally. Her one line, “Can I get a ride?” Yeah, exactly. The entire project, based on the quality of talent we were working with, is so bad it’s hard not to keep listening.
Hey, maybe that is the formula for success.

Hopefully, once the song is done, I’ll be able to update this post with an attachment.

Maybe moving forward, I can actually write a real song with meaning, thought, along with some type of literary rhetoric and lyrical concept. It's worth a try. After all, that’s what a bucket list is about.

Nonetheless, whether how enormously bad the final product is (And I expect it to be), it is an experience I can honestly say I had. A true studio experience of writing, recording, editing, arranging, and pursuing creative perfection with a the help of a mind in the music field, is one that I have tremendous respect for.

WWE Wrestlemania XL Review: "I absolutely loved this Wrestlemania"

It's easy to get caught up and become a prisoner of the moment. Especially in today's world where the latest moment is ostracized, super-analyzed, and hyperbolized - it's very much the clickbait, social media, microwave society we live in.  Yet, even after acknowledging that (as well as my Tribal Chief, of course), I still come to this feeling that Wrestlemania XL is one of the best Wrestlemania's, ever.  Yes, ever!  I don't need Triple H's metrics and benchmarks to influence me. No, no, no! In terms of hype, storylines, payoffs, match quality, and just overall fun - this entire weekend was amazing.  I'm slightly skewed in my preference as well. This was my son's first Wrestlemania as a pro wrestling fan. Having him at my side cheering on his favorites, getting caught up in the drama, and even crying at the end of the night because his Tribal Chief lost to "that no good Cody" added to the overall appreciation of the event.  So yeah, I have some

DP Review of the Alternate Knicks Orange Jersey

One of the good aspects about having a blog and being truthful and honest about it, is the hindsight thought process it provides. DP devotees already know how much I love my New York Knicks, and how excited I was about their new jerseys last year. It was a new look that was desperately needed ( DP Review On Knicks New Uniforms ).  In reviewing those jerseys last year, I had the following comments in regards to then-rumors regarding the addition of an alternative orange jersey for the Knicks and overall NBA changes to the Christmas Day special jerseys:  "As long as we do not add an "alternative jersey" (I read rumors of an orange one - woof!) (and the league-wide Spanish jerseys are fine). And please, please - PLEASE - let's finally do away with the awful green jerseys we feel the need to wear on Christmas and St. Patrick's day! Pretty please!"
