Sunday Sundown Rundown - 3/31/19

3 Up 1. NCAA March Madness - I've watched wayyyyy too much college basketball over the past month. But, I don't care! Everything from the conference tournaments, to the men's DI Tournament, the women's DI Tournament, and the DIII tournaments (hey, I do work in college athletics) - all of it has been awesome. 2. Opening Day - Baseball is back - FINALLY! 3. #MyWhitePrivilege - I was surprised to see this trending this week, and really, it made for good reads on Twitter. It's not everyday you see something like white people acknowledging their privilege, but it was even more interesting to read those who believe their whiteness doesn't play a role in anything societal. #delusional. 3 Down 1. Death of Nipsey Hussle - Too unfortunate. Just so incredibly unfortunate. The world can be cruel most of the time, but it's people like Hussle who attempted to change the system with investments in his own neighborhood , and overall, make it a better place.  Th

Predictions and Wild Guesses For the 2019 MLB Season

Baseball is back. Thank you, Lord! After an off-season that in some ways is still happening (sorry Kimbrel and Keuchel), we are finally at the gates of the 2019 MLB Baseball season. And for me, finally saved from the mess that was the 2018-19 New York Knicks. But I digress. As is always the case before the season, I'm throwing out some predictions, some wild guesses, and of course, waiting on the tweets and texts from all of you calling me crazy. But that's all part of the fun. Here we go!

Forever Summer Envy

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 3/24/19

3 Up 1. NCAA Tournament - March Madness is always fun. And I've honestly watch wayyyy too much of it so far. And tonight's Duke vs. USF game...wow. The whole tournament so far - wow! 2. New Zealand Gun Laws - I'm giving New Zealand another "up" this week as their government moves forward in banning all military assault rifles. Also, kudos to the people of New Zealand. Some were upset with the change that made this guns suddenly illegal, however, they understand and have decided to comply. Imagine, that? Reasonable people? What? 3. Ichiro Retirement - I was glad I was up and in front of a TV to see Ichiro's retirement and to see him run off the field one last time. The guy is so insanely unique, and was an absolute joy to watch over his career. A rare player that didn't need the long ball to make him must-see. 3 Down 1. Parkland Student Suicides - I really hope this doesn't go unnoticed. Because no one discussed the trauma and fear those wh

3 Up 1. New Zealand Gun Laws - After the tragedy this past week in New Zealand, we all watched how quickly the country made new legislation and passed new laws to prevent measures like this from happening again. That's government working with the people in mind, and really, with humanity at the forefront. 2. Special Olympics World Games - If you've never seen parts of any Special Olympics event, I urge you too. If you're an athlete, a former athlete, or just a currently active person - or heck, a person who can be inspired! - these athletes will do that as well as redefine what sport means to you. Always love it. 3. College Basketball - So much basketball! Who doesn't love this time of the year. Especially, when you're a Knicks fan, and we're as bad as we are this year (isn't it every year?). It's fun playing pseudo scout. I digress on the Knicks jabs - but I can't wait for the tournament! 3 Down 1. New Zealand Mass Shooting - It's s

Hey, baseball - you ready, yet?

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 3/3/19

3 Up 1. Dwyane Wade's Buzzer Beater - Buzzer beaters are often thrilling and shocking. I can't recall seeing one that was this unintentional and this hopeful - even including mid-court heaves . An incredible shot for one of the all-time greats in his final year playing. 2. Bryce Harper - Well, he finally got his money. And we got our answer regarding to where he'll play going forward. But give Bryce Harper some credit for laying out all out there and committing to Philadelphia for the next thirteen years. Should be interesting. Oh BTW - Phillies Harper jerseys outsold Lakers' LeBron James jerseys in the first 30 hours. That's pretty damn impressive. 3. She Believes Cup Tribute - Sports takes the sweep in the "Up" column this week. The women of the United States wearing the names of other women who have inspired them was really cool. Very much looking forward to the World Cup this summer. 3 Down 1. Stephon Clark Ruling - So add a private ba
