Pro Wrestling's Race Abroad - True International Expansion

Pro Wrestling often goes through it's phases, and it seems lately, going international is where the business is headed. Not in terms of television deals, and extended broadcast rights to various countries, but we're talking like really going international. You know, with diversity, travel, culture, and all of that good hearty stuff that really embodies the term. This of course is weird, as "World" has always been apart of the wrestling game for as along as we can remember. Looking back on it, it seems that too was part of the kayfabe and the aura that was pro wrestling. Sure, companies toured and talent independently traveled to other countries to wrestle, but North America is where all of the efforts went into. I'ts where all of the wrestlers desired to be. It's where all of the champions for the most part, were still white men that fit the mold pro wrestling has had for years.

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 5/28/17

3 Up 1. Memorial Day Weekend - The unofficial starts to the summer season, and of course, a weekend to give thanks and to remember those who fought and sacrificed for our freedoms.  2. Heroes in Portland Attack - Speaking of sacrifice, kudos to Taliesin Myrddin Namkai Meche, Rick Best, and Micah David-Cole Fletcher who intervened and gave their lives to stop such a senseless threat.  3. Baltimore Mayor - I'm all about these statues, names of buildings, and other related things to slavery being trashed. It's amazing that it's taken so long, but hey, such is America. Glad to see Baltimore looking to follow in the footsteps of New Orleans. Now, can we please repeal the false "mythology" that surrounds Thomas Jefferson?  3 Down 1. Manchester Terrorist Attack - Ugh...I can't. Senseless. Stupid. Ridiculous. My heart goes out to those who lost loved ones.  2. Portland Muslim Hate Attacks - Speaking of senseless, how ridiculous is this attack?

Turning Thirty-Two

Today, I turn thirty-two. There is just something odd about this age - like twenty-three was, or twenty-eight was, you know, the mile markers in between the rest stops - that just doesn't carry the super significance as 21 and 30 did. Although, at this stage of life, there are many mile markers, and those celebratory rest stops are much, much fewer in between.  Though, it wasn't too long ago I passed a big one - thirty! And if you remember, I loved becoming AND being thirty. To be honest, I enjoyed being thirty-one, and really, thirty-two already seems kick-ass. Call me crazy, my thirties have been VERY enjoyable.  But as I turn thirty-two, there isn't much significance in the number, but truly, it's about the changes in myself. Thirty was just two years away, and I am already better than that version of myself. This year marked ten years since I've graduated from college ( Things I Would tell My college Self ), and I am a much better version of myself c

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 5/21/17

3 Up  1. " My Family's Slave " - I urge everyone to take the 20 minutes and read this piece in The Atlantic . An insight to slavery, the affect of how it dehumanizes someone, and the true and sad story of all the edges and truth around it. This piece bring slavery to a new personal feeling, and makes you think about how it still is happening in our country. A great read full of truth and emotion.  2. Aaron Judge - It's time I give this dude his props here on the SSR. He continues to mash, and yes, even today showed his value with the glove. Man, I am so excited for the Yankees future! 3. Ultimate X - Impact Wrestling's latest X-Division renaissance has been great, and is exactly what fans of the division, like myself, have been begging for years - focus! This past week's Ultimate X match was another example of the division's jump start.  3 Down 1. Times Square Car Wreck - So incredibly sad that people are hurt and one person's life

The Pondering 10 - Things I Would Tell My College Self

It's weird to the think that in the middle of celebrating the accomplishments of my senior-staff and commencement as a higher education practitioner, that I myself, graduated too, ten years ago. It's crazy to think about, but an entire decade has flown by since I walked across a stage receiving my undergraduate degree.  So because it's what I do, what advice would I give if somehow, present me can appear ten years ago on the shoulder of freshmen me, as I sat in a third floor dorm room in Cazenovia, NY? Well, here are ten things things I would offer (and an honest letter ) in the latest Pondering 10:

Dome Pondering Movie Review: Everybody Wants Some!! (2016)

What is it about?  A group of college baseball players navigate their way through college, taking advantage of their personal freedoms and learning to navigate their sudden unsupervised life in the 1980's.  Who is in it? Sunday Sundown Rundown - 5/14/17

3 Up 1. Derek Jeter Ceremony - What a well done ceremony by the New York Yankees this evening. Despite the score of the actual game, the Yankees put on quite a show that honored Jeter. Very few in sports can do it like the Yanks, and they proved this to be true.  2. Bryce Harper - Not only has Harper been raking this season, he just set a record with an arbitration agreement that will pay hime $21M for the 2018 season - the highest salary ever. And we forget, Harper is still younger than most of the "young" talent we are holding as the future of the game. The free agent bidding war in the winter of 2018 is going to be madness.  3. Melissa McCarthy - Her role as Sean Spicer is downright hilarious. Absolutely hilarious. Honestly, her role has been able to take what has been an absolute disaster and turn it into some comedy. IF Spicer does get let go (rumored, of course), I'm pretty sure this will just add to the over-the-top character of Spicer that she plays.

My Heart is Full

Hey, I'm back! I have returned! While I've continued posting over the last few months on current events, especially via the Sunday Sunday Rundown (which I love doing), along with a few posts here and there, truthfully, I've gotten away from punching the keys from the heart. There have been a few things going on, as life typically throws our way, that took away my time from the keyboard. And if I did have time, it was spent decompressing. Recently its been work (as always), studies (a recreational pursuit of a second masters degree - of which I've yet to thoroughly post on) and honestly, after the political and social climate that was 2016, I've been trying to decompress from all of it. It's been five months now... and its still tough. 2016 sucked for social justice. But, such is life.  Regardless, I sit here punching the keys today with a full heart. As is always every May, a part of me goes through the mixed emotion of joy, sadness, encouragement,

Dome Pondering Import - Derek Jeter Budweiser Commercial

Just when the wounds of "letting go" of Derek Jeter in Yankee Universe were beginning to heal from the separation Jeter has created in going incognito in his celebrity, they all have been ripped open this week. Here we are, during Jeter week and a few days away from retiring The Captain's number at 161 and River Avenue, and all of those moments come flooding back making us feel all nostalgic, and tingly inside from those memories we've been trying to move on from.  As always, anything Derek Jeter is awesome - especially the well produced videos for him. As always, here is yet another one sponsored by Budweiser saluting #2 prior to the number getting placed in monument park for good.  Enjoy!

Would You Rather: Questions 81-90

81. Would you rather be 4'5" or 7'7"? I would prefer to be 7'7". On this weird spectrum, I'm already used to being taller than the average person. I can deal with the extreme height. It'll be nice to play some pick up basketball.  82. Would you rather be tall and fat, or short and well built? Tall and fat. I can always lose the weight. Plus, short and jacked dudes often have to fight the stigma of being jerks on first appearance.  83. Would you rather be poor and work at a job you love, or rich and a job you hate? Poor and work at a job you love. Take it from someone who has their dream job, the sense of purpose and peace of mind is indeed worth much.

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 5/7/17

3 Up 1. Captured Girls Return - The evil that is the gross, disgusting, group that is Boko Haram released 82 of the 300-plus they kidnapped over a year ago. Many are still missing, but giving these girls a chance at life away from the clutches of this group deserves the plus this week.  2. Dear White People - I got around to checking out this show on Netflix and boy was I happy to do so. DWP is VERY thought provoking, truthful, honest, authentic, and yes, very funny. And it's a great show, visually. Can't wait for season two.  3. LeBron James - Because most of us are just waiting for the eventual Cavs/Warriors NBA Finals, we're losing sight of really how awesome LeBron James is. The dude really is the difference maker in this league. It's quite astonishing to think about. The Cavs are rolling, and he's just toying with opponents.  3 Down 1. Trumpcare - Look, I'm not going into this full on. But it just seems to me that this administration is
