2016 Bucket List - #2 Visit Safeco Field

Continuing my Seattle adventure, you knew I couldn't visit a new city, especially one with a Major League Baseball team, and NOT go to the stadium! And, neither did my tag team partner. She knew exactly what was on the list to see in Seattle - Safeco Field.

Much to my annoyance, the Mariners weren't in town, but we did do the stadium tour which was just fantastic. Everyone in Seattle really is super nice in a weird chill way. And our tour guide was the same way, of course picking on my Yankee fandom as I rocked a sweet dad style Yankee hat in the home of the Mariners.

Of course, the tour begins where it all turned for better for the city of Seattle and the Mariners - the double. Now even before the tour, I explained to my wife the heartache a 10 year old me went through watching Jack McDowell give up a scorching line drive down the right field line to Edgar Martinez, and having to feel me heart bottom out second by second as Griffey ran galloped flew moved with some type of speed sorcery around the bases to score and send the M's to the 1995 American League Championship Series.
Ugh...it still bugs me a little.

Regardless, the play helped spur baseball fever, pushed the building of a new stadium (thank goodness the Kingdome is gone, ammirite, Yankee fans?), and ultimately, kept baseball in Seattle.

Nonetheless, besides the continuing jabs at the Yankees by the tour guide for all of the Mariners failures, Safeco is an awesome park. Nothing too aesthetically pleasing from the outside to be honest, but inside is just fantastic. From the architecture of the umbrella that covers the stadium (apparently they don't call it a retractable roof), to the way the stadium just represents all that is Seattle on the inside, it's quite a ballpark.

Oh yeah, the seats are quite awesome as well. Every where in the ballpark is a good seat. Always my biggest plus for a stadium.

Really, Safeco is a beautiful stadium. The short history of the franchise makes it very unique as you can see the things around the park that make the club who it is. Other than the rather boring look on the outside, Safeco has rich personality, big time city representation, and a great feel for fans.

Can't wait to return for a game in the future.

Dope Sports Threads - New Miami Marlins Uniforms

Call me crazy, but I really do believe in the Miami Marlins under Derek Jeter. Maybe it's just the 90's baby-Yankee fan in me, but I just don't see Jeter ever losing. Ever. In fact, the many who were so quick to jump the gun on his team taking over the franchise don't understand just how terribly run the Marlins have been operated prior to his taking over. Or really, don't truly understand how sports from a business perspective works.

Regardless, after his rookie season as an owner, the changes are now pouring in. From embracing the city, to organization changes such as all players learning Spanish (so awesome!), the Marlins are going to be interesting moving forward. And now, we get a new design, new stadium upgrades, and new uniforms!

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 12/9/18

3 Up

1. MLS Cup - Not only was the game amazing, but over 73.019 packed the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium down in Atlanta, setting a new MLS Attendance Record! Congratulations to Atlanta United as well - second year in existence, and already hoisting hardware! Also, major judos to the city of Atlanta! Who knew Atlanta was a soccer city?

2. LeBron/Grizzlies Employee - There was just something about this story that was awesome. LeBron knew for years looking at her kicks, never said anything, and finally gave her a pair for her collection. It's a unique story, yet, one that just shows the human side of LeBron. It's the little things sometimes...

3. Frolicking Dolphins - This is a weird one, but it is so damn cool. A man on his typical ferry commute captured 200 dolphins making their way through the ocean. Sounds silly and kind of corny, but seriously, watch the video and tell me it isn't serene?

3 Down

1. White House - From yet another person stepping down, to the craziness that i…

The Pondering 10 - All-Time Favorite Championship Belts

With the WWE finally moving on from the ridiculousness that was the appearance of the WWE championship (Really, they kept a spinning title for eight years), and of course the unveiling the look of the title, it got the wheels turning on the best looks for championship belts. From pro wrestling, boxing (although, don't expect to see any on this list as they are usually ugly), and mixed martial arts, there are plenty of different models, types, and appearances that come with them. The following Pondering 10 list is my favorite all-time championship belts.

The Pondering 10 - Favorite MLB Uniforms

Unlike most sports, baseball uniforms carry a lot of tradition and history. It's rare that you see baseball teams deviate away from the history of a club, and if they do, it's usually an ownership change. For the most part, in baseball, the uniforms are sacred. Because of that, Major League Baseball has many teams with uniforms that are very, very significant, and also, very stylish. As we did for the NFL (Pondering 10 - Favorite NFL Uniforms), the following Pondering 10 will take a look at my favorite MLB uniforms.
