Sunday Sundown Rundown - 5/30/16

3 Up

1. Donovan Livingston - Just awesome. That describes why Livingston is receiving the top spot this week. If you haven't heard or watched his epic speech as of yet, be sure to do so.

2. Alix Schoelcher Idrache - A tremendous photo was captured of Idrache as he shed tears during an emotional graduation from West Point. The background and story of the moment is truly touching, and will make you appreciate the upcoming Memorial Day Holiday.

3. LeBron James - The naysayers can hate all they want, but six straight NBA Finals (with two teams!) and being durable during the run is nothing short of phenomenal.

3 Down

1. 700 Migrants Dead - This story broke my heart to hear of the many who are fleeing Libya towards Italy and not making it. They are risking their lives for a better one, and the report is that 700 migrants this week have drowned attempting to cross the rough waters of the Mediterranean.

2. NFL Denial - So the report came out this week that the NFL tried to sway a government study regarding head injuries and pretty much tries to do the same for all other cases, if not, simply strong arming them (possibly rejecting their business) into not publishing the material. Honestly, I've become less and less supportive of The Shield, and really find myself questioning if I can ethically support this league.

3. Portland, Oregon Superintendent Apology - So this Superintendent knowingly allowed students to drink lead-tainted water for a week. A week?! Sorry, sir. Save your apology on this one. That's just disgusting.

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 9/23/18

3 Up

1. Eluide Kipchoge - I'm always impressed with any running feat. But come on! This dude just broke the World record for not just any running feat - for a freakin marathon! He finished the Berlin Marathon in 2 hours 1 Minute and 39 seconds!! Kipchoge ran his first 10 kilometers in 29:21! That's just insane. So insane.

2. John Legend - Props this dude for completing the EGOT, and of course, becoming the first black person to do so. That is some big time, historical, accomplishment-stuff.

3. Tiger Woods - Do I care about golf? Not really. Not even when Woods was in his prime. Yet, who doesn't love a great comeback sports story? I'm still not OK with how he treated his ex-wife, but I'm always up for a redemption story. I do like seeing people rebound.

3 Down

1. Florence Death Toll - With the numbers rising as the days go by, it's a shame to see the aftermath of such a storm in the Carolinas. Here is to hoping we can get help to the region sufficiently.

2. Kavan…

The Pondering 10 – All-Time Animated Cartoons

Every individual enjoyed cartoons as a child. While today’s youth may not have many options, or even care for cartoons, for generations in the past, cartoons provided many hours of laughter, memories, and overall entertainment. In the following Pondering 10 list, yours truly will name my all-time favorite cartoons. This list is by far the hardest list compiled hear on the DP due to the enormous amount of cartoons that were great, as well as putting together a profound and honest list based on quality and interest. In doing so, I have left out such cartoons such as Family Guy and King of The Hill, as these are more connected to the present time rather than childhood memories. Also, please keep in mind, the following cartoons have must be noted as an honorable mention: Duck Tales, Goof Troop, The Jetsons, Thundercats, Darkwing Duck, Tale Spin, Gargoyles, Batman, Pinky and the Brain, Speed Racer, Doug, Garfield, Bobby’s World, Sonic The Hedgehog, Ghostbusters, Tailspin, Captain Planet, …

True Tales From Parks and Recreation - Public Bait and Switch?

Note: I work for a park slowly in continuing development in Manhattan that is five miles along the waterfront of the Hudson River. As a Public Programs Coordinator, yours truly handles anything public related in regards to permitting (athletic facilities, film shoots, photo shoots, weddings, and other small gatherings), and of course, dealing with any questions or inquiries from the public. The following series will present stories, e-mails, phone calls, conversations, interactions, and sights I've seen from the people of New York City in regards to a public park. And yes, these are all real! And are all true!
Welcome to another little snippet of Parks and Recreation.
