Charlie Liar! Close the Door on Rose

We live in a very forgiving society, especially when it comes to our sporting culture. We've offered the extensive olive branch to various athletes who have owned up to their short comings in some mysterious indirect way, or just outright apologized for their grievance to our society. Of course, as always, performance and/or some type of past equity plays a role here. Just ask Alex Rodriguez.

But when it comes to Pete Rose, his plea to be reinstated in Major League Baseball, and possibly a induction to the Hall of Fame, I'm all out. I'm done. No. No. No. And again, no.

Yes, Pete Rose is the all-time hit king at 4,256 hits. That's a whole lotta hits! And it is such a shame that baseball's two biggest records (hits and home runs) are tied up in controversy. I also understand the some who want Rose in the Hall of Fame for historical and educational purposes.

However, if the findings by ESPN's Outside The Lines crew are legit, and it seems to be in every way, then Pete Rose deserves the door to be shut on him for good. I really mean that. Just my thoughts.

He denied gambling on the game for years before admitting to it right before releasing a tell-all book, which I already wasn't a fan of. It reeked of Rose profiting from the game again. Of course, with the confession was a another footnote, he denied betting on his own team. And now we get the truth that he did. Which to be honest, is very telling about Rose's character then AND now, due to the fact he refuses to own up to his wrong-doing.

He just looks like a liar. A big liar.

Baseball has one, single cardinal rule - don't bet on the game. Simple. It's a good rule, an important one, and one in place to protect the game forever. Baseball - heck sports! - can survive a lot of things, and it's proven they can, but gambling and the idea that the outcome of games are fixed is not one of them. It almost killed baseball in 1919 due to the White Sox Scandal.

Pete Rose broke that rule. Lied about it. And then Lied about it AGAIN.

That's three big strikes on the all-time hit king. The biggest out he'll ever make.

Pete Rose lies just about as much as he hustled on he baseball field, which is unfortunate.

Again, Pete Rose may say he loves the game, but he's done nothing but lie and gamble away the little integrity he brought to the game.

For me I'm done. Hit king or not. I'm forgiving, but three times the charm.

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 5/20/18

3 Up
1. JJ Watt - Watt is just a stand-up guy. No other way to say it. An athlete that embraces the city he plays in, in times of good, and when he is needed. Paying for the funerals of all of the victims in the latest school shooting is just another example of the kind of dude Watt really is. So much props.
2. Sante Fe Admins - So many times in these shootings, the efforts and bravery of the many who help to keep students safe, calm, and diffuse the situation often goes without praise and notice. Once again, much love and praise to those who did so once again. And yes, to those who lost their lives doing so as well.
3. Las Vegas Golden Knights - In their inaugural season, the Golden Knights are in the Stanley Cup Finals, and quite frankly, could possibly win the whole damn thing. It's so impressive, and speaks to the parity of the NHL. But really, if you're a fan of a team currently in a drought (say, like my New York Knicks?), this run is absolutely remarkable.

Dear Son, On Location

--36 Weeks (Before Birth)--
Dear Son,
You've been acting up as of late, and really, something tells me that it won't be the last time I have to say that to or about you in the upcoming years. That's parenting, I guess. But you've become quite the active guy inside your mother's belly - kicking, shifting, spinning, and making her uncomfortable in the most random of moments.
I'll never forget you intentionally blocking your face during the recent sonogram photo. Or even, when they attempted to shift your body, you bending over and showing your butt to the monitor.
Already, such a proud father. That's my kid. But yeah, you're an active fella.

Thoughts on Latest NFL Anthem Policy Change

There is a part of me that didn't even want to EVER touch this topic again. I said what I said in the past on the highly controversial topic, and then followed up a year later, and vowed there was no point. After all, no matter how many times issues of clear social injustice is brought up, there will be those who will look to thwart it, especially by draping themselves in a false sense of "patriotism".
But, here we are. Another post on the this entire ordeal. I'm at a point where I simply laugh at callers on sports radio, political pundits on air, or even the casual individual who voices their opinion against the situation - thank you random guy at the gym, your commentary and viewpoints keep my grounded in America's pulse.
And now, the NFL, emboldened it all of it's arrogance, in it's lack of understanding, in it's negligence of player understanding or safety, and yes, it's fear of President Trump and it's supporters has managed to take so…

Dome Pondering Movie Review: Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017)

What is it about?
A mother challenges the authorities in town to capture the suspect responsible for her daughter's murder with three controversial billboards that stir up many feelings and a series of events in town.
Who is in it?
Frances McDormand - Mildred
Woody Harrelson - Willoughby
Sam Rockwell - Dixon
Favorite Scene:

After the billboards stir up much controversy in town, the local priest stops by to also attempt to use faith to get Mildred to take down the billboards. She then erupts in an awesome monologue comparing the Catholic church and it's authorities to the Crips and Blood gangs.
