Don't Take Each Dawn For Granted

On any given day, we all do it. We fall victim to privilege - of walking this earth, of taking a breath, of  our loved ones. We all anticipate the next day's beginning without fear of cause or concern, blatantly, and in some ways, unintentionally, laughing at what the dawn may bring.

"Just another day" we say as we make our plans, adjust our schedules, fix our mental timelines, and prepare for the norm. The usual. The everyday.

We wake up, do our routines, and go about our way. We push the snooze button at the very same time every morning. We get dressed within the same time frame. We take the same walk path, or driving route, or subway train. Eat the usual breakfast. Check the redundant e-mails, text messages, and/or social media outlets out of sheer boredom or habit in between these mundane tasks. Normal. Just another day. Just like every other day.

We do it like clockwork, with such arrogant assurance and belief,  as if each dawn brings about exactly what last night's dusk ended.. Until it doesn't. Until non of it matters anymore. The route. The outfit. The breakfast. The e-mails. The planning. All of it.

See, this morning I received a phone call from my wife's co-worker who unfortunately had to tell me that my wife was in rough condition - an unknown condition - and was being rushed to the hospital.

Suddenly, none of this mattered. None of it at all. As I got in my car and raced towards the hospital in downtown Manhattan, I could only pray that God would help the situation. I prayed hard. And on a Thursday like no other, I quickly learned not to take each dawn for granted. It's more than just clockwork, routines, and mindless motions and actions. It's more than just "another day". For on any given dawn, things could change. And change quickly.

All should be indeed well with the tag team partner as she is expected to pull through. However, I urge all of you to appreciate each day, the blessings you have - the simple things, especially - the talents you have, and those who impact your life in a wonderful way.

Do it. As there really is no such thing as, "just another day".

Harper, Machado, and...Moustakas? - Someone Sign Em' All!

As we await the breaking news of what team Bryce Harper and Manny Machado (or Machado and Harper, however you have them ranked) will sign with, let's ponder my crazy thought and wish, if you will, for the current MLB off-season.

No, this is not a campaign for my Yankees to sign one of them. And for the record, Yankees fans need to chill - the moves made this off-season have been awesome.

And no, let's not talk labor discussions. Its very obvious front offices have possibly learned from the mistakes of the past on long-term deals for huge amounts of money. Though, it only takes one owner with radical thinking to put a wrinkle into it all (my wish includes this very GM!).

I'm talking something that is not necessarily unprecedented, but an occurrence that possible could give MLB the national attention it hasn't gotten in a long time, and really, placing the game of baseball on the front burner of main stream appeal.

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 1/21/19

3 Up

1.Katelyn Ohashi - Her performance went viral this week, and as many have already stated, it's impossible to watch Ohashi's performance and NOT feel happy. Just awesome, awesome stuff. Plus, she is insanely talented!

2. Nathan Phillips - So much props to Phillips who earned plenty of respect for his poise and patience when facing the group of MAGA students attempting to intimidate, annoy, and shame him. Phillips' integrity came through even more after having the floor to share his opinion on what happened - never outright throwing shade at the students. The dude has plenty of character.

3. MLK Weekend - Dr. King is a such a hero of mine. I'm always in awe of this weekend, of his life, of his thoughts, of his words, of his character, and even so on the contrary, how often his words, missions, and ideals are misconstrued today.

1. MAGA Teenagers - This video wraps up white privilege in the United States. By the way, it's also amazing how little has been sa…

The Pondering 10 - All-Time Favorite Championship Belts

With the WWE finally moving on from the ridiculousness that was the appearance of the WWE championship (Really, they kept a spinning title for eight years), and of course the unveiling the look of the title, it got the wheels turning on the best looks for championship belts. From pro wrestling, boxing (although, don't expect to see any on this list as they are usually ugly), and mixed martial arts, there are plenty of different models, types, and appearances that come with them. The following Pondering 10 list is my favorite all-time championship belts.
