Sunday Sundown Rundown - 5/25/14

3 Up 1. Memorial Day Weekend - I love Memorial Day Weekend. The unofficial start of summer, BBQs, beaches, and of course, honoring the men and women who make our country so great. As someone who loves to write, blog, and share my thoughts, I greatly appreciate my 1st amendment right and those who made it happen, and continue to defend it.  2. Birthday - On this Sunday, it is another birthday for yours truly. Turning 29 is sort of an odd birthday en route to the milestone one of 30, but it's still another year of God's grace and living on this earth. I'll take it.  3.  Cricket Catch - As a son of a cricketer, I appreciate the wonderful game of cricket. This catch made by Kieron Pollard is amazing. Probably the best play I've seen all year, in any sport.  3 Down 1. Virgin Killer - This guy is just another mass murder who has a gripe with life and unfortunately will be remembered for his evil deeds. I refuse to read anyone's words (The killer'

Pondering with Plumtree - We Are All Wrestling's Biggest Enemy

Pondering with Plumtree is a column on the popular blog, TNAsylum, that is written by yours truly. The blog is focused towards being a fan site for TNA Wrestling fans where they can get news, rumors, opinions, and any and everything else, TNA Wrestling. Known as "The Haven for TNA Wrestling Fans", I'm hoping to bring some of my thoughts to an already impressive roster of columnist for as long as the site will have me. You can read the latest column here , or in the text below.

2014 DP All-Star Clash - The Finals

And then there were two. After a tournament that began with thirty-two random people, celebrities, sports figures, and even some fictional beings, the 2014 Clash now has it's championship showdown. A very unlikely one (aren't they all?), this year's clash should be interesting with a best of seven format within the reasons of the following format: (1) Least Likely to Sell Out; (2) Better Twitter follow; (3) Better investment for a ten year contract; (4) Better halftime performance at the Super Bowl; (5) Most likely to have a famous re-tweeted selfie; (6) Better wrestling promo; and finally, should we have a deciding criteria, (7) Most clutch performer. With that said, let's wrap this thing up and get our 2014 DP Clash champion.

Dome Pondering Movie Review: Monsters University (2013)

What is it about? The prequel to Monsters Inc., which explains the backstory and relationship of Mike and Sully during their time at college - Monsters University. Who is in it? Billy Crystal - Mike Wazowski John Goodman - James "Sully" Sullivan

The Pondering 10 - Most (Oddly) Annoying People in College

As a higher educational administrator, I hear it all the time. The stories, discussions, hearsay, rumors, and debates about the people and issues that consume and irritate those living the college life. I've been there, so I know exactly how they feel. What is oddly shocking to me is that not much has changed since I've walked across a commencement stage seven years (...wow) ago. So, with commencement week upon us, I figured what better time than now to list the oddest, yet most annoying people, I came across in college.

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 5/18/14

3 Up 1. Jay-Z/Solange Parody - Although I'm a bit annoyed over the coverage of this story, and ironically, I'm doing the same in this post, SNL did a tremendous job in their parody skit last night. Just an awesome job.  2. Smooth Young Fan - Another video gets a "top" nod this week as a young boy catches a game ball and gives a few ladies behind him, the ball he already had with him. Pulling it off smoothly, the ladies believe he's giving them the game ball he just caught. Hide your wives, hide yo daughters, this kid is on his way in a few years.  3. Ariana Grande - Say what?! Yup, you read that correctly. I'm usually not one to get crazy over the "stars" of today's generation, but the young Grande earned my respect with her performance tonight at the Billboard Music Awards. Heck, she actually sang. I'll give the gutsy 20 year old the nod this week. Bravo.  3 Down 1. Attention to Jay-Z/Solange Altercation - My goodness.

Dome Pondering Movie Review: What Maisie Knew (2012)

What is it about?  A young girl is caught in the middle of a bitter custody battle between her ill-focused parents in New York City.  Who is in it?  Onata Aprile - Maisie Julianne Moore - Susanna Steve Coogan - Beale

With that said, let's see who wins their bracket and advances to the Final Four.

Dome Pondering Movie Review: The Wolverine (2013)

What is it about?  After going back to Japan to what he thinks is a good deed, Wolverine is wrapped up into a plot that forces him to protect his mutant abilities as well as deal with his own inner demons.  Who is in it?  Hugh Jackman - Logan/Wolverine Tao Okamoto - Mariko Rila Fukushima - Yukio

2014 DP All-Star Clash - Bracket Championships

We're moving on to the bracket championships in this tournament. As per the rules, this round is again a best of three with the following criteria: (1) Better NFL Quarterback; (2) More interesting Talk-show host, and if necessary; (3) Better College roommate. With that said, let's see who wins their bracket and advances to the Final Four.

Pondering Picture #39

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 5/12/14

3 Up 1. Mothers - Mothers day is such a hard thing to wrap your mind around. On one end, it's nice to honor the women who make so many things happen in homes worldwide. However, on the other end, they deserve so much more than just one day. Either way, much love and praise to the good mothers out there. Your work is incomparable. 2. New York Rangers - It's rare that hockey takes over this city, but the Rangers are on the verge of this, especially after a dramatic Game 6 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Added to the story is the emotional sidebar of Martin St. Louis, who recently lost his mother, and played inspiringly to will the Rangers to force a Game 7.  3. PlayStation 4 - Recently bought one along with MLB The Show 14 and it's one of the best things ever. Seriously, ever. I love PlayStation 4. 3 Down 1. Kidnapped Nigerian Girls - There are times when stories like this are happening and our media decides to cover other pointless "news"

WWE Extreme Rules 2014: Messing With Jersey

With the title of "Extreme Rules", a ruckus and hot New Jersey crowd, and the aura of hardcore expected on the show, heading into this show there was a slight feeling this could really be a lot of fun. Anyone remember the Monday Night Raw after Wrestlemania 29? A night that really jumped started the recent pro-engagement crowds we've seen as of late. As a New Yorker, I have to admit, Jersey started that. They deserve the credit. Nonetheless, tonight had some moments which really helped serve as a catalyst for this crowd, and other moments that seemed like the WWE just tried way too hard. Of course, some, which outright made you wonder how much rope the WWE has with wrestling fans.

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 5/4/14

3 Up Kwasi Enin - The NYC student was accepted to all eight Ivy league schools - Harvard, Yale, Brown, Columbia, University of Pennsylvania, Dartmouth, Princeton and Cornell. Always good seeing the youth succeeding, especially a fellow New Yorker. Hopefully, this kid can inspire others.  Adam Silver - For bringing down the hammer on Donald Sterling. Sure, it's late, but he made sure to finally begin the process of getting rid of a lingering and potential crippling problem.  NBA Playoffs - The NBA gets another "Up" nod this week with it's playoffs which have been awesome. Tons of Game 7's, dramatic finishes (Damian Lillard, anyone?!), real bad blood rivarlies (Clippers/Warriors) and of course, averting the Donald Sterling tragedy. And it's just begun.  3 Down 1. Brazilian Soccer Fan Killed - Everyone knows soccer fans are nuts, but throwing toilet bowls - yes, toilet bows! - during games and killing others is beyond ridiculous. This cultur

Dome Pondering Movie Review: The Place Beyond The Pines (2012)

What is it about? The life of two  men and their eventual encounter causes a ripple effect in their lives, in the lives of their loved ones, and in the lives of their children. Who is in it? Ryan Gosling - Luke Bradley Cooper - Avery Eva Mendez - Romina

2014 Bucket List - #15 Watch an Entire Hockey Game on TV

I'm not a hockey fan at all. I think if you've been coming to this litle blog called Dome Pondering for awhile, you are well aware of this fact. It's not out of sheer dislike for the sport, nor do I find it boring, but because well, it's just something I never was into.  Personally, I played a little street hockey a bit back in the day when roller blades were the in-thing, but for the most part, playing stickball, baseball, basketball, and football in the streets and parks here in Brooklyn were what I did. Naturally, those are the sports that I am naturally drawn to.
