2013 DP All-Star Clash - 1st Round (Pawnee, Indiana Bracket)

Here are the updated brackets:

[Reminder: The first round selected topics for the first round: 1. Greatest Accomplishment 2. Most Likely to Lead in a Musical and the Man'ti Teo topic, 3. Least likely to have an Imaginary Girlfriend.]

#1 LeBron James vs. Boobie Miles

1. Greatest Accomplishment - Unfortunately, this is a lopsided comparison. Boobie never made it, and well LeBron has become quite a big deal. High School football vs. NBA Championship doesn't seem quite comparable. (James 1-0).

2. Most Likely to Lead in a Musical - Boobie had charisma and some flare that was more genuine and real than LeBron. After all, "God made Boobie beautiful!" But in the end, LeBron in anything - anything! - sells. Easy sweep! (James wins 2-0).

#4 Eva Longora vs. #5 Mark Wahlberg

1. Greatest Accomplishment - Stardom from Desperate Housewives vs. Resurrected (and successful) career after a failed music career. Coming back from Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch to being respected as an actor in Hollywood is pretty damn impressive. Everyone has to respect that. (Wahlberg 1-0)

2. Most Likely to lead in a Musical - Both of these talents can lead a musical, however, once again, I'll have to go with Marky Mar...err Mark Wahlberg as being the better draw for a musical. My logical here. Women love musicals. Women love Marky Mar...er Mark Wahlberg. It's academic. Shame too, Eva Longoria is just so beautiful, I'd like to have her move on just because... (Wahlberg wins 2-0).

#3 James Bond vs. #6 Carmelo Anthony

1. Greatest Accomplishment - Unfortunately, Carmelo Anthony's biggest accomplishment is still heralded as winning a national title for Syracuse (Hopefully for this Knicks fan, that changes). You know, all Bond ever does is save the world from terrorist organizations. Not even close. (Bond 1-0)

2. Most Likely to Lead in a Musical - This bracket really has been easy. Bond in a musical? Ha! And we know Carmelo secretly loves attention. (Tied 1-1).

3. Least Likely to have an imaginary girlfriend/boyfriend - While Bond may have some pretty gorgeous women, or "Bond women" as they have come to be known, Carmelo Anthony is married to a pretty beautiful women himself. And there is no making that up. Plus, Bond is in espionage. They always tell a lie or two...or five hundred. (Anthony wins 2-1).

#2 Mit Romney vs. #7 Carly Rae Jespen

1. Greatest Accomplishment - Governor of Massachusetts vs. Call Me Maybe. Unfortunately, only one of those things will be remembered ten years from now, and sadly it is this...(Jespen 1-0)

2. Most Likely to be in a Musical - Like Bloomberg in another bracket, Romney really lacks in connecting with a crowd in public appearances. As for Carly Rae Jespen, she just fits the musical type if she needed to be. I'm sure she's already been on Glee. Big upset here. (Jespen wins 2-0).

Making Sense of The Bible, Politics, and Immigration

They use the Bible.
For any Christian, or any person that believes in the Good Book and trusts in Jesus for faith, for life, for eternity, it always is a point of contention, a source of struggle, and a subject that truly tears the heart apart - using the Bible to justify action. And in this case, specifically cruel and inhumane action.
By that statement, you already know where I stand. And if you read and follow this blog, you already know where I did. Yet, after Jeff Sessions used Romans 13:1 as a means to justify the removal of immigrant children from their parents at the Southern Border, as a Christian, as someone who believes heavily in that book and in the faith of Christ, I'm left utterly appalled, angry, upset, and disappointed.
Shockingly enough, much like what was promised in "Making America Great Again", we are seeing this country reverse into some dark times and questionable actions that reflect those specific times. Times that may have been great for any …

Sunday Sundown Rundown - 6/17/18

3 Up
1. Father's Day - Always a special day of the year, kudos to all of the men who are engaged and active fathers around the world. I had several wishes of "Happy Father's Day" today, and yes, it was weird. Hoping to officially join the club with my initiation year coming up.
2. The Incredibles 2 - Honestly, it was was one of the movies I would have picked to end my now decade long-movie-theater-free streak. Yes folks, it's been over ten years now. I should probably put up a countdown on the site. Nonetheless, kudos to I2 for raking in over $180 Million over the weekend. And yes, this sequel is so long overdue.
3. The World Cup - It's been absolutely incredible since the start. With many upsets and poor outings from some powerhouses, the tournament is already flipped upside down. We saw an epic Ronaldo performance, and a Messi letdown continuing that epic debate. Also, it's pretty interesting to watch those who fancy themselves "BIG" sports …

Thoughts on 2018 State of the Union Address

Heading into this State of the Union address, I strongly believed this was President Trump's opportunity to somehow clear the air and change slow the growing perspective he's been claiming as "fake news". For a guy whose strength in politics has been refuting claims, attacking others, tweeting without control, and giving informal and fiery speeches in the form of rallies, having a blank canvas to unite, to control the perspective, and to give his mission is indeed foreign.
Last night was his chance. And in my opinion, it was the "must win" in the political spectrum, especially considering the midterm election season we are upon.
Again, im not a "must win" kind of person, but his message tonight is just that in the political spectrum. Has to deliver. Has to. — Dome Pondering (@DomePondering) January 30, 2018
Overall, I thought the President did well. I'm being fair and just. And as a former college debater and an absolute junkie for rhetoric…
